A lesser known yet beautiful trek is what makes the Nethravti peak stand out! Located in the Kudremukh forest range, in the Chikkmagalur district, this no trail trek calls for more excitement and adventure. The seeking one has to follow and find a path through the lush green forests of the Western Ghats. There is no man movement and one might be lucky to find a few Sambar Deers, Bisons and Bears too! We start the journey from Bangalore at around 9:00 in the night, directly reaching our home stay in the Kudremukh district at 5:00 am. We freshen up, have our breakfast and carry our packed lunches and start for the trek. A small jeep ride of 7 kms awaits us from the home stay to the base of the trek. With lush vibrant green paddy fields and tea plantations on either side, this is an experience in itself. :) As we start trekking, the first 500 mts is a small patch of forest, with beautiful huge trees giving a lovely canopy! We hike the next two kms through a valley with a drop on one side and forest on the other. The drop gives us scenic and extensive view of the Kudremukh forest range. To refresh ourselves a little through the trek, we find a two tire waterfall, in which we play, get wet and unleash the child within us. The next 3 kms is again through the valleys and some grass lands. The view is breathtaking, and in the rainy season it’s all green everywhere. :) At the end of the 3 kms we find a hunting spot of the animals that has a gentle stream flowing by. This is a no man area zone. Animal bones are something that one can find by serendipity! The last 4 kms of the hike are through vast grasslands with a steady incline. And the sight on the top is worth the sweat. Once we reach the peak, a feeling of immense gratitude and love for the forest satiates us. A spectacular 360 degree view with cloud laden mountains greets us. We can behold the Nethravati River and even catch a glimpse of Ujire. Clear skies bring to us the view of the very famous Kudremukh peak! We spend some relaxed time on the peak, soaking the beauty around. We then, have our packed lunches and start heading back to the base, taking the same route back, through the grasslands, valleys and the forest but with a longing to stay for more time on the peak. :) We reach the home stay, tired yet contented. We freshen up, have a nice warm dinner, spend some time bonding with our fellow members and hit the bed. Early next morning we wake up, freshen up, have breakfast and hit the road to get back to Bengaluru, stopping on the way back for a self sponsored lunch and reaching by 9:00 pm. We cherish the memories for a good long time and long to get back on another tete a tete with nature soon! :) Note: Price has been hiked from March to May 2023 for AC Transport.  Difficulty level Moderate  Approx Temperature 20 degree - 27degree Accommodation type Depending on the availability: a)  Be noted its a place in middle of nowhere, NO restrooms are accessible (one has to be dependent on natural resources) b) Dormitories: Ideally big room where people sleep in sleeping bags provided by us. Blue skies, scattered clouds, chill winds, rolling grasslands and silence, this is what Gangadikal is all about!  Gangadikal is bounded by steep hills and valleys, in the Western Ghats of the Kudremukh forest range, that bear the brunt of the severe monsoons winds, which precludes dense tree growth. Thus, resulting in grasslands throughout the forest ranges. Little secluded, not touched by many, is what makes this a highlight and one can enjoy the tranquility of the forests to the fullest!  The captivating flora and fauna of the Western Ghats attracts Nature enthusiasts too. We start our journey from Bengaluru at around 9:00 in the night, directly reaching our homestay in the Kudremukh district. We freshen up, have our breakfast and carry our packed lunch and start the trek.  A ride of around 20 kms, through the forest awaits us to the starting point of the trek. Tall trees and a patch ride makes this all the more exciting.  As we start trekking, the first 200 mts wades through the forest range of the Kudremukh National park. Filled with huge trees, that give a beautiful canopy which play hide and seek with the sun.  The next 4 kms of the trek is through vast, huge grasslands that are opulent green in color and are at their brightest during the monsoon time! The trail gives us a steady incline as we scale towards the peak of the mountain.  Mist filled cloud laden mountains welcome us as we reach the peak. The view is mesmerizing with the blanket of the plush valleys in spectacular shades of green, that seem endless. We also get a glimpse of the backwaters of the Lakya Dam. And if skies are clear, the very famous Kudremukh Peak can be viewed! We spend a good hour on the peak, immersing in all the beauty nature has to offer to us. We have our packed lunches and start heading back to the base, taking the same route, through the grasslands and the bus ride back to the homestay.  We freshen up, have a nice warm dinner and spend some time with our fellow mates and hit the bed. All tired yet in awe of the trek and the wonder nature has laid out to us.  Early next morning we freshen up, have breakfast and head to Bengaluru. On the way back we visit the Soormane Falls or the Hanging Bridge and stop for a self - sponsored lunch, finally reaching Bangalore by 9:00 in the night.  Still in cloud nine from the trek, we long to get back on another heart to heart encounter with nature. :)  Difficulty level Easy to Moderate Approx Temperature 20 degree - 27degree Accommodation type Depending on the availability: a)  Be noted its a place in middle of nowhere, No restrooms are accessible (one has to be dependent on natural resources) b) Dormitories: Ideally big room where people sleep in sleeping bags provided by us. Kodachadri Trek - Tour

Shivamogga, Karnataka
Kodachadri Trek
₹ 4,130
The beauty of Kodachadri trek located in the middle of Mookambika National Park has existed since time immemorial. The hill get it name from a flowering plant and is also called “Jasmine of the hills”. It is a scenic peak with dense forest cover all around it. With an altitude of 1,343m above sea level it is the 10th tallest peak in Karnataka.  At about 8 AM after freshening up, and a quick breakfast at our homestay, we will proceed to the trailhead, a quarter kilometer drive away. A quick introduction and briefing and then we enter the Jeep trail that ferries pilgrims to the temple up on the mountain. About a kilometer and a half later we deviate off the jeep trail and cross a stream to enter into the jungle (Expect leeches in the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons). The trails from here on are not very clear and it is easy to lose our way if we don't remain in one group. This stretch is about 2 kilometers long and passes through thick jungle. We’ll be crossing many small streams on the way. The creatures of the forest give us occasional appearance on the trek to the waterfall. Twenty minutes of scrambling and stumbling up the path after which the trail opens up into an open field with a couple of huts and agricultural land (the last signs of civilization until we hit the peak).  Soon after the clearing we start for the falls, that is about  another 20 mins climb. The trek gets tougher as you’ll be climbing on sharp and slippery rocks on the way. Once you get past it be sure to take a dip at the waterfalls.  Soon after resting and having fun at the falls we continue on the jungle trail to the right. After 30 mins of trekking in the same jungle terrain the path opens up to the grasslands of Kodachadri. The high winds up there don’t allow for a lot of vegetation. But beware this part is very steep with the incline being close to 60 degrees at certain points. Here on, the trail overlooks panoramic views and winds up and over a couple of hills. About 45 minutes later, the trail merges with the jeep trail. We regroup here and proceed to Kodachadri peak which is a 5 minute walk away from there. We will rest and have our packed lunch on the peak, after which we start heading back to the base. Being easier on the knees and easy to navigate when we begin losing light in the evening, the Jeep trail is ideal for reaching back to the base. A 3 hour hike along the trail and we are back to the base camp for a well deserved dinner and sleep. We freshen-up, have breakfast and leave our base-camp by 8 AM and proceed to the Bidanur fort built by Shivappa Naik 30 kilometers away. The fort belonged to the Keladi dynasty of 17th century and gives a complete view of the landscape in all directions. We will spend an hour here and then proceed towards Bangalore only stopping for lunch (self-sponsored). Tadiandamol Trek, Coorg

Any day in the “Scotland of India- Coorg” is better than a normal day in the city. If you are looking for a getaway that yells beauty, serenity and one of a kind experience then look no more. Tadiandamol Trek stands at a height of 5700ft, located at a distance of 8 km from the town of Kakkabe and approximately 35 km from Madikeri. It is the highest peak in Coorg and is situated in the south-eastern part of Coorg. We reach Coorg at dawn, the fresh aroma of coffee estates that span as far as your eyes can possibly see offer us a warm welcome. After a quick breakfast we start from Nalakanad Palace. the trek route has numerous visual treats for you guys in store. From seeing pretty butterflies, to waterfalls that are of just the right size to enjoy, to jaw dropping views of the valley. Tadiandamol is a MUST for everybody who choose NATURE over Netflix. After about 4kms of walk we reach BIG ROCK that will serve as a point of rest before we continue towards the peak. The path then tests you with gradual increase in the inclination, this where you come across the famous shola jungle. But nature has a trick up her sleeve, we come up to a false peak which deceive many people who end up thinking that this is the peak. The trail thereafter becomes narrow and steep, which makes even a distance of just 300m seem like a lot!  The top is usually covered in low, moving clouds. After spending ample time and enjoying everything that the trek has to offer we have our packed lunch and enjoy the panoramic views, we begin our descent at a slow comfortable pace back to the base. A short drive later we are back at our homestay for tea and snacks, followed by dinner and a blissful night’s rest. Next morning we wake up by 7 AM to freshen up and have breakfast, following which we will continue to the Golden Temple. We begin for Bangalore a little before noon and are likely to reach here by about 9PM in the evening. Overall, Tadiandamol offers enchanting views while at the same time not demanding too much physically (in comparison to treks such as Kumara Parvatha, Mullayanagiri/Bababudangiri, etc.), which makes it the perfect initiation trek for anyone looking to take up trekking seriously.
