Bananthimari Betta is locally known as KaradiBetta in and around the region, since bears are spotted around. Located 3 kms from the Kanakapura region, this twin hillock is surrounded by plush green fields and patches of flowers and rock surfaces.  This moderately easy day trek is perfect for a weekend break.  We start our journey from Bangalore at around 6:30 in the morning, stopping by for a sumptuous, breakfast. We pack our lunches here and continue our ride till the base of the trek.  The trek starts from a temple at the base, and the first 100 mts is through a mud path. As we go ahead, the next 1 km goes through steep rocks, which serve as steps through some lovely green bushes and canopies above. As we go higher, we get our first view of the whole town.  The next 1.5 kms is completely trekking over the boulders and it’s an adventure in itself! The varied colors of the boulders, some places steep and some fully flat make it all the more exciting. The views keep getting majestic as we go further.  Gentle winds, and a breath - taking view is what greets us on the top. Blues skies filled with fluffy white clouds, that cast their shadows on the green grasslands and bushes, giving the vibrant colors of green! We spend a good half n hour on the peak, soaking in all the beauty and head back to the base, through the same route.  Once we are back down all hungry, we devour on our packed lunches by the pond. Spending some time there, we soak and relax our legs in the cool water.  We then head back to Bangalore, reaching by 6:00 in the evening. Fully satisfied with a soul stirring solitude experience.  Difficulty level : Moderate Trek Length : 5 Kms in total (Two way) Altitude : 1135 Meter Distance from Bangalore : 75 Kms  Minimum Age : 7 Years  Weather : 29 to 33 Degrees (March to June) read more read less

Makkalidurga is 60kms away from Bengaluru after Dodda Ballapur. Makkalidurga, also known as Gunjur Hill, is situated at Makalidurga village, 12 km from Ghati Subramanya. On the top is a magazine house called as Maddinanave built out of brick and mortar with an oval shaped window-like opening. A succession of dilapidated fort walls and a temple housing the statue of Linga and Nandi tells the tale of Sage Markandeya performing penance here for a long time. Though the ascent is tedious, the summit offers inquisitive 360° landscape views. The jabbing dry grass is an irritant in dry months and is challenging to discover the grass-covered route during the rains. Expect high winds and fog on the hilltop. The awesome sight of the train chugging at the foothills seems straight out of a children's storybook. Channarayana Durga Day Trek

Channarayana Durga is a hill station near Tumkur. It is good place for trekking and rock climbing. The height is of about 1,188 mts. If forts or treasures that have evaded history's books are the kind of thing that make you salivate, then Channarayanadurga is where your next adventure lies. A mere hundred kilometers from the concrete of Bangalore city is the stolid granite of a hill fort that has borne witness to the rise and fall of several empires. Originally built by the lesser known Kings of Madhugiri, it was then passed into the hands of the shrewd Marathas. It became a sure bone of contention between the Marathas and the Mysore Wodeyars, who toyed with Channarayanadurga and passed her back and forth for many long years until the culmination of the Third Mysore War. This, quite possibly, offers basis to the hundreds of attempts made by locals as well as intrigued travelers who aimlessly hunt the hill down for any semblance of treasure that might have also escaped history's victors. Though not a single one of these attempts have met with any luck, their undying enthusiasm will keep them coming back for more.  On the other hand, there are a unique breed of enthusiasts who try their luck at a different feat and also come back, hungering for more - they are trekkers. Now,  channarayanadurga may not have any treasure left in her chest, but the stuff she is made of sure offers just as fulfilling a challenge to any trekker that attempts this trail. By itself, the Channarayanadurga trek can be classified as moderate. The starting point of this trail begins from the quaint village that rolls right up to the foot of the hill. Almost immediately you begin scaling the bare rock face that presents a steep gradient. With absolutely no tree cover to offer you any shade, this part can be rather tiring.   Few important points to note before you decide to register:Click Here read more read less
